Food and Drink Tastings

Taste Cusco's finest cacao — from raw bean to silky dark chocolate.

Why Cusco is the Best Place for Food and Drink Tastings

Cusco's food scene has exploded in the last few years. You've got restaurants on every corner of San Blas and the Plaza de Armas, and food and drink tastings have become one of the top things to do for visitors. But most tastings in Cusco are about pisco or coffee. Chocolate? That's where we come in.

Our food and drink tastings focus on Peruvian cacao. You'll taste raw cacao nibs, roasted beans at different temperatures, cacao butter, dark chocolate at 70%, 80%, and 100% purity, and our handmade pralines and truffles. We also serve hot cacao drinks — the way they've been making them in the Andes for centuries.

A food blogger from Lima came last month and wrote that our tasting was "the most fun I've had eating in Cusco — and I eat for a living." She wasn't wrong. Food and drink tastings at our workshop aren't just about tasting — you learn why each chocolate tastes different and how roasting time changes the whole flavor profile.

What's Included in the Tasting?

Every food and drink tasting at our workshop includes 6 to 8 different chocolate samples, a hot cacao ceremony drink, and a full explanation of the bean-to-bar process. You'll learn about the difference between Criollo, Forastero, and Trinitario cacao varieties. And yes — you eat a lot of chocolate.

We source our cacao directly from farms in the Quillabamba and Vraem valleys. The farmers use organic practices and we pay above fair-trade prices. When you taste our chocolate, your tasting the real thing — no additives, no shortcuts, just pure Peruvian cacao.

Perfect After Lunch or Before Dinner

Our food and drink tastings run about an hour and a half. Most people come after lunch — its the perfect afternoon activity before heading back to your hotel or out for dinner. We're close to all the best restaurants in San Blas, so you can pair your tasting with dinner at Cicciolina, Green Point, or Pachapapa.

If your looking for food and drink tastings near the San Pedro Market or the Plaza de Armas, we're just a short walk up the hill into San Blas. Worth every step.
